It was about this time 75 years ago, when Nolin Rural Electric Cooperative Corporation began serving electricity to rural homes in Hardin and LaRue counties. Today, as the member-owned cooperative celebrates its diamond anniversary, the membership has grown to more than 33,000 and they provide electric service to nine counties.
The Red Hill Cemetery Commission met Monday for about 15 minutes.
The group approved minutes and financial records for the period July 2012 to June 2013. There was $31,954.73 in income; $14,693 in general expenses.
After taking out payroll expenses, health insurance, retirement and taxes, maintenance and repairs, the Commission lost $37,467.13 during that period.
Diane Osborne asked the commissioners to look at a couple of trees that had been damaged by a storm sometime in the past. She said it is possible they could fall on and damage several monuments.
The Buffalo Post Office is temporarily closed while the facility is treated for recluse spiders.
In the meantime, Post Office box customers can pick up their mail at the Hodgenville Post Office, 102 S. Walters St., in Hodgenville between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 10 a.m. to noon Saturday.

Magnolia Post Office, 4900 South L&N Turnpike, 7-11:30 a.m. and 1-3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday (closed for lunch, 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.); 7-10:30 a.m. Saturday.
