As 2012 approaches, so does the human resolve to make life changes, such as losing weight, increasing exercise – or quitting smoking and tobacco products.
If quitting smoking tops your list of 2012 resolutions, the Kentucky Department for Public Health (DPH) recommends the use of one or a combination of available tobacco cessation resources. These range from group cessation to telephone coaching to online cessation and are available at no cost to all Kentuckians.
The staff, adult daycare and residents are looking forward to the New Year. The outpouring of love and sharing through out the holiday season has been amazing. Santa came to visit not once but twice. The gifts sponsored by the Sunrise Volunteers and Bobby Morrison's Santa Bus were enjoyed by all. The Sunrise Volunteers made everyone's heart sing with a knit shirt as a gift.
Did you know an extra 100 calories per day can cause you to gain 10 pounds per year? That may not sound like much, but an extra 5 or 10 pounds every year for the next several years can add up to be a lot of extra weight.
The Parkinson’s Support Group will meet 4 p.m. Jan. 19 at HealthSouth Lakeview Rehabilitation Hospital, 134 Heartland Drive, Elizabethtown. The group meets 4 p.m. every third Thursday at HealthSouth.

Are you saving money?
Most people aren’t, thanks to the economy and the high cost of gasoline and food.
But it’s something that households should consider, not only for retirement but to take care of those gremlins that seem to jump out and bite us whenever we think things are going good. (You know, the windstorm takes off the roof; the car needs a new battery; or the sewer backs up.)

Dining at home with family and friends is rewarding and enjoyable. In the coming year, consider making cooking and dining at home a priority in your family. It controls food costs and helps with weight management, and it brings a family together.
Research shows that having regular mealtime can improve the health of children, help with their social and emotional development, and help them do better in school.
