    Roy Skaggs of Hodgenville shares this photo of his grandparents, Luke and Bessie (Skaggs) Skaggs, taken in the early 1900s. The couple was “courting” at the time the photo was taken. Luke was from Green County and they eventually moved to Hodgenville. Working on his family tree has been difficult since Bessie’s maiden name was also Skaggs, according to Roy.

    Joe McClain passed away Nov. 23 at St. Anthony Hospital, Michigan City, Ind. He has several relatives in Hodgenville. The funeral was Saturday at First Baptist Hodgenville.

  • Community Home Health Care offers service to LaRue

    An Owensboro-based home health-care provider has moved into the Hardin County area after acquiring Lincoln Trail Home Health’s licenses.

  • Blood drive is Dec. 10

     The Christmas community blood Drive will be held noon to 5 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 10, at the Hodgenville Woman’s Club on Lincoln Square.

    At this time of the year you can give the “Gift of Life.”  All blood types are needed and the procedure takes about one hour.  

    For one unit of blood donated, three lives may be saved. New donors are always welcome.  

    The blood drive is sponsored by the Hodgenville Woman’s Club.

    Average retail gasoline prices in Kentucky have fallen 6.6 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $3.25 per gallon Sunday, according to GasBuddy’s daily survey of 2,623 gas outlets in Kentucky. This compares with the national average that has fallen 1.4 cents per gallon in the last week to $3.25 per gallon, according to  GasBuddy.com. 

  • Theatre to be sold

    Horse Cave Theatre property will be sold at 1 p.m. Dec. 6 inside the front door of the Hart County Justic Center in Munfordville, according to the News-Herald.

    The Master Commissioner sale has been ordered by the court in the case of Citizens First Bank vs. Horse Cave Theatre. The amount to be raised is $366,821.12.

    Four buildings are involved in the sale.

  • Dinky presents 19th annual magic show

    Dinky Gowen, a LaRue County illusionist, will present his 19th annual Christmas Party and Magic Show 3-5 p.m. Dec. 15 at LaRue County Park and Recreation.

    There is no charge to attend. 

    There will be costumed characters, Santa Claus and plenty of magic.
