  • White Coat Ceremony

    The University of Louisville School of Medicine Class of 2016 White Coat Ceremony was held at the Louisville Downtown Marriott on Aug. 5. Pictured is Samuel Sanders, son of Sam and Dee Anne Sanders. He is the grandson of Tony and Jean Carole Ennis and E.G. and the late Clara Sanders.

  • Dotson - Highbaugh Wedding

     

    The marriage of Teresa Dotson and Eric Highbaugh was performed July 28, 2012, at the Mt. Moriah Church in Mount Sherman.

    Ashley Young and Brittany Allen served as maids of honor and Jesse Highbaugh was the best man.

    Reception followed at the couple’s home on New Jackson Highway in Magnolia, where they will begin their life together.

    The annual Wheeler reunion was held July 8 at LaRue County Sportsman’s Club.

  • 240-foot tower built to serve local agencies

    Across the street from LaRue County High School last week, you may have noticed some fellows climbing about on top of a steel structure hundreds of feet in the air. Those were employees of the World Tower Co. of Mayfield.

  • BIRTH: Zoey Christine Hunt

    Meagan Williams and Christopher Hunt of Scottsville announce the birth of a daughter, Zoey Christine Hunt.

    Zoey Christine was born July 19, 2012. She weighed 9 pounds and was 21-inches long.

    Maternal grandparents are Bobby and Lisa Williams of Hodgenville and the late Lisa Smith of Morristown, Tenn.

    Paternal grandparents are Terry and Beth Hunt of Radisson, Wis.

    Maternal great-grandparents are Gary Jones and Patsy Quinton of Tennessee and the late Sherley and Ann Williams of Hodgenville.

    War of 1812 hero honored
    Ceremony recognizes veteran, 200th anniversary of 19th-century conflict

    Cassandra Carroll solemnly accepted the folded flag last Monday honoring Capt. Christopher Miller, a distant ancestor who served in the War of 1812.
    Cassandra, a seventh-grader at Bluegrass Middle School, said it was special to accept the flag during the grave-marking ceremony at Miller’s burial site in Freeman Lake Park in Hardin County.

    Hannah Bingham of Hodgenville and Nick Berry of Tompkinsville announce their engagement and forthcoming marriage.

    The bride to be is the daughter of Jimmie and Pam Bingham of Hodgenville.

    The prospective groom is the son of Mike and Pam Berry of Tompkinsville.

    The wedding is 7 p.m. Oct. 12, 2012, at Fuquay-Varina, N.C.

    Terry Wise’s editorial cartoon of a couple seeking answers from a philosopher appeared in a recent publication by the United Nations Regional Information Centre for Western Europe.

    The publication focused on “happiness in world religions.”
