  • Byers to perform in Les Miserables at the PAC

    LaRue County’s Trent Everett Byers will play the role of Grantaire in the chorus of the dramatic play Les Miserables, hosted by the Hardin County Performing Arts Center.

    Byers had been involved in performances at the PAC while he attended LaRue County High School from 2003 to 2007; and has since been involved in productions with Pandora, Stephen Foster Amphitheater, Northern Kentucky University and the University of Louisville.

  • Juneteenth was a success

    What started as a whisper of hope ended in a shout of joy in 1865 when freedom came, and that same enthusiasm swept LaRue County on Sunday, June 16, when celebrants gathered to remember that blessed news once again. And what better place to recall the original announcement of freedom than the “Cradle of Emancipation” where the noble ideas of freedom were born along with the noble man who would suffer martyrdom to achieve them.

  • Walking horse show will benefit historic horse barn

    The Bluegrass Walking Horse Association will host a two-day horse show at the LaRue County Fairgrounds.

    Arlene Gray, who is helping to organize the event, said a portion of the proceeds from the Aug. 17-18 show would be used to renovate the 1907 horse barn at the fairgrounds.

    “It is an awesome barn,” said Gray. “It wouldn’t take much to restore it ... you walk in there and you feel like you’re in a horse barn.”

    Car and Bike Show at Wesley Meadows
    The Sweet Chariot Car and Bike Show will be hosted by Wesley Meadows United Methodist Church, at 4341 Campbellsville Road, on Aug. 10. Registration is at 10 a.m. There is a $10 entry fee.   • BIRTH: the Ragland's welcome Joshua Evan

    Josh and Lauren Ragland of Magnolia are pleased to announce the birth of their son, Joshua Evan Ragland.

    He was born June 12, 2013, at Hardin Memorial Hospital. He weighed 7 pounds and 15 ounces and was 21 inches long.

    Grandparents are David and Debbie Ragland of Hodgenville; and Kent and Lynne Simpson of Georgia.

    Shonda and Johnny Underwood, of Columbia, wish to announce the birth of their son, Alec Wade, born July 18, 2013.
