  • Motown concert set for Aug. 4 in Campbellsville

     Motown sounds will fill the air when Greater Campbellsville United's "Music on the Square" takes place for the public on Saturday, Aug. 4.

    Well-known musicians Yulonda Bradshaw, Becky and Dwight Taylor and other friends will provide the singing starting at 6:30 p.m.

    The event will take place on Courthouse Square in downtown Campbellsville, in front of the historic mural. Bring a lawn chair.

  • Websites provide information about nursing homes, hospitals

     Two websites that help Americans make informed choices about hospitals and nursing homes have been redesigned and will make more information available to the public, according to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.

    The two sites – Hospital Compare http://www.hospitalcompare.hhs.gov/  and Nursing Home Compare http://www.medicare.gov/nhcompare/home.asp  – have been enhanced to make navigation easier by users, and have added important new comparison tools like findings from nursing home inspections.

  • Vanity Hair Grand Opening

    Vanity Hair, Hodgenville’s newest hair and nails salon, held an open house Friday. Members of the LaRue County Chamber of Commerce gathered for a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the new business.
    Master stylist and owner Daniel Skaggs hopes to offer “a fresh but classic style” to LaRue County and surrounding areas.
    Skaggs has seven years of professional styling experience and is optimistic about Vanity Hair’s future. One day he hopes to include a spa aspect to the salon.

    Tickets available for A Taste of the Heartland

    The Community Health Clinic of Hardin & LaRue Counties is holding its annual fundraiser “A Taste of the Heartland.”The charity dinner/art auction begins at 7 p.m. Aug. 3 at the Historic State Theatre in Elizabethtown. The Clinic provides volunteer-based basic healthcare services to low-income, uninsured, chronically ill residents. Tickets are available at http://www.thecommunityhealthclinic.com.

     James Wise participated in the watermelon seed-spitting contest at the Silver Angels Daycare at Sunrise Manor. Staff member Lisa Harris and Lou Floyd looked on. The daycare group is enjoying a number of fair activities this month.

  • Ireland takes first in LCNI contest

     Linda Ireland, editor of The LaRue County Herald News, was recognized by parent company LCNI in the annual editorial contest.

    Ireland won the Best News or Feature Stories Series category with a series on the LaRue County Detention Center.

  • WEDDING: Amanda Jo Cinninger and Joel Bennett Terry

     The marriage of Amanda Jo Cinninger and Joel Bennett Terry was performed by the Rev. Jerry Everley on June 16,2012 at The Old Rugged Cross Memorial Garden in Pokagon, Mich. 

    The bride is the daughter of John and Margaret Cinninger of Niles, Mich., and the groom is the son of Wilma and Roger Ewing of Elizabethtown and James B. and Lisa Terry of Elizabethtown. 

    There was a reception afterward at The Veranda at the Whitcomb in St. Joseph, Mich. After a wedding trip to Jamaica, the couple will live in Covington.
