  • Students named to Centre’s dean’s list

    Centre College has released its dean’s list for the fall term, an honor reserved for students who maintain at least a 3.60 grade point average.

    Included are two LaRue County High School graduates: Kacie Bowles, the daughter of John and Diana Bowles of Sonora; and Samuel Sanders, the son of Sam and Dee Ann Sanders and grandson of Tony and Jean Ennis and E.G. Sanders, all  of Hodgenville.

  • KSP holds fundraiser

    The Kentucky State Police are rolling out a classic '60s muscle car updated for the 21st century for their Trooper Island fund-raising drawing this year – the 2010 Chevrolet Camaro (1LT Coupe).

    Tickets are $10 each and are available from any state police post or by sending a check for $10 per ticket and a stamped, self-addressed envelope to Kentucky State Police, Media Relations Branch, 919 Versailles Road, Frankfort, KY 40601.

     

  • Shelton receives degree in criminal justice

    Eastern Kentucky University in Richmond recognized 938 graduates at the conclusion of the fall 2009 semester.

    Bryan Scott Shelton of Magnolia received his Bachelor of Science degree in criminal justice at a commencement ceremony Dec. 19.

    Many families continue to struggle with day-to-day expenses, avoiding utility shut-offs, evictions, mortgage foreclosures and rising debt. Working individuals and families need to know that help may be available when they file their 2010 tax return.

  • Hellman named to Dean’s List

    Rebekah A. Hellman, daughter of Roie and Karen Hellman of Hodgenville, was named to the Dean’s List at Georgetown College for the 2009 fall semester.

    The Dean’s List honors undergraduate students who completed the semester with at least 12 hours and a 3.7 GPA.

  • Special Needs Adoption Program

    SNAP is the Special Needs Adoption Program within the Department for Community Based Services that operates statewide to recruit families to adopt or foster Kentucky’s waiting children.

    Jacqueline “J.D.”, 16, is one of those children. She has a nice smile and a sweet disposition. She enjoys Christian, country and rap music. She likes watching American Idol, the Hallmark channel and Animal Planet. She enjoys playing volleyball and has played on her school volleyball team in the past. She loves basketball and football, too.

  • Gatewood participates in All-American Bowl

    Department of the Army civilian Bradley A. Gatewood was part of a support team made up of soldiers from throughout the Army for the 2010 U.S. Army All-American Bowl. The Army sponsored the nationally televised football game played Jan. 9 at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas.
