Bruce and Deborah Parker of Elizabethtown announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their son, Christopher Parker of Elizabethtown, to Kristi Wooden of Elizabethtown, daughter of Rue Wooden of Elizabethtown.
The bride-to-be is employed at Jack Henry and Associates.
The prospective groom is majoring in music education at Campbellsville University. He is a manager at McDonalds and assistant band director for the Marion County High School Band.
Retirement planning is important for all individuals; however, it is especially important for women. At some point during their lives, 80 to 90 percent of women will be solely responsible for their own finances. Unfortunately for the majority of them, it will be later in life. Women tend to have shorter work histories than men, as a result of entering and leaving the workforce due to raising children. In addition, fewer women participate in employer-sponsored retirement plans compared to men.
The theme for this year’s Ready Campaign promoting September as National Preparedness Month is Resolve to Be Ready in 2012. This public awareness drive encourages individuals and community leaders to make the resolution to take the necessary steps to be prepared for emergencies.

An outdoor wedding is scheduled for September 8, 2012, at the Howell Family Farm, located 8 miles east of Hodgenville on HWY 210 beginning at 2 pm EST. A reception will immediately follow the ceremony. In the event of rain the ceremony and reception will be held at Mt. Tabor Baptist Church, Buffalo KY.
