  • ANNIVERSARY: Gozzards celebrate 60

    John and Gail Gozzard of Hodgenville celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary on June 26, 2013.

    They were married June 26, 1953, at the home of the groom’s grandfather in Warren, Ohio.

    They have five children: John E. Gozzard Jr. of Glendale, Randy Gozzard of Florida, Dianna Moder of Minnesota, and D.J. Canter and Kevin Gozzard, both of Hodgenville; 16 grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren.

    Glorietta Fun Fest
    The First Baptist Church, 107 Bishop Lane, Elizabethtown, will have a Glorietta Fun Fest 10 a.m.-7 p.m. July 13. Booth space is available for $25. Deadline for vendors is June 17.

    Breakfast at Upton Masonic Lodge # 749
    Upton Masonic Lodge #749 will have a breakfast fundraiser 8-11 a.m. July 13 (and on the second Saturday of every month). Cost is $5 per person.

  • Golf Tour Book benefits American Lung Association

     The American Lung Association’s Golf Tour Book includes discounts on more than 5,000 rounds of golf at over 300 fine courses in Kentucky, Indiana, Tennessee and Ohio.

  • Weekly Gas Report

     Average retail gasoline prices in Kentucky have fallen 10.3 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $3.46 per gallon Sunday, according to GasBuddy’s daily survey of 2,623 gas outlets in Kentucky. This compares with the national average that has fallen 3.8 cents per gallon in the last week to $3.57 per gallon, according to gasoline price website GasBuddy.com.

  • Skaggs earns $500 Memorial Scholarship

     Kayla Skaggs of Magnolia is the winner of the $500 Gerald T. McCubbin Memorial Scholarship sponsored by Magnolia Bank.

    The scholarship is awarded based on school activities, club memberships, community activities, scholastic honors, achievements and an essay.

    Skaggs, a 2013 graduate of LaRue County High School, plans to attend the University of Kentucky and pursue a degree in business accounting education.

    She is the daughter of Steve and Sandy Skaggs of Magnolia.

  • United Way invests $364,000

     The United Way of Central Kentucky renewed its commitment to its mission of connecting the community for the common good by investing $364,000 in eight local agencies that serve LaRue County through programs and services in education, financial stability, health and basic needs. 

  • Students graduate from Campbellsville University

     Campbellsville University graduated 170 master’s students and 262 undergraduate students on May 3 and 4.
