    Prime Time Band to perform
    A dance will be held 7-10 p.m. Friday, Sept. 13 at the LaRue County Senior Citizens Center, 112 N. Walters Ave., Hodgenville. The Prime Time Band with Jim Walters, Leroy Sherrard, David Sherrard and Doug Gary, will perform a variety of music. For more information, call Jim Walters at 737-5655 or 766-4437.

  • Fundraisers -September 11, 2013

    Via Colori
    Via Colori, a fundraiser for the Advocacy & Support Center, a rape crisis center in Elizabethtown, will be 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Sept. 14 in downtown Elizabethtown on the square and North Main Street. The street painting festival raises money through sponsorships by businesses or individuals.

  • Cave City Dollar Days scheduled for Sept. 21

    Cave City area attractions will host their eighth annual Dollar Day, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sept. 21. The Dollar Day event is the traditional customer appreciation event for area residents and visitors. LaRue County residents are included, according to the Cave City Tourism & Convention Commission.

  • Howell’s postcard art featured in book

    LaRue County attorney Carl Howell Jr. has collaborated on a new book on the history of Shelby, Henry and Spencer Counties.

    He provided the postcards to illustrate “Historic Kentucky Postcard Art 1900-2013” and wrote the introduction. He worked with William E.

    Matthews of Shelbyville on the book. Byron Crawford wrote the review.

    One of his favorite postcards in the book is one of a train, depot and passengers in Shelbyville about 1909. The hand-colored postcard is “just marvelous,” said Howell.

  • Youth Pony Club being formed in Campbellsville

    Meadowbrook Equestrian Center is looking for interested children and adults to start a chapter of the U. S. Pony Club.

    Curriculum planned to be offered: Youth Pony Club for children ages 8-25, Western Track for Western Riders, and the Masters Program for adults ages 25 and over.

    An all-weather outdoor arena, cross country course and hunter jump course with clinicians for all disciplines will be available.

    Interested candidates will meet at 2 p.m. Oct. 5 at Meadowbrook, 2775 Elkhorn Road, Campbellsville.

  • ‘Privates by Choice’ to perform at Park

    Abraham Lincoln Birthplace National Historic Park will host the band “Privates by Choice” Saturday, Sept. 7, as they perform original music scores from the Civil War era.

    The free concert will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the visitor’s center patio.

    To commemorate the 150th anniversary of the war, the group will perform a unique selection of newly composed acoustic and folk songs.

    Instruments featured will be guitar, mandolin, violin, hammered dulcimer, cello, mountain dulcimer, bass and some light percussion in various combinations.
