  • Glen Rice concert is Nov. 8

    Glen Rice, Family and Friends Musical Concert will be 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 8, at the Hardin County Schools Performing Arts Center at John Hardin High School in Elizabethtown.

    The concert will feature the music of “the greatest country groups” including The Oak Ridge Boys, The Statler Brothers, Alabama and The Gatlin Brothers.

    Southern Spice featuring Clinton Spaulding and Megan Stout, along with Allie Shae Hash and David Dunaway, will perform.

  • ANNIVERSARY: Dohns celebrate 30 years

     Glenda and Joe Dohn of Hodgenville celebrated their 30th anniversary on Oct. 15, 2013.

    Glenda is the daughter of Dixie Farmer Pearman of Hodgenville and the late J.T. Pearman.

    Joe is the son of Nannie and Fred Dohn and grandson of Ruby Sherrard Berry of Rineyville and the late Willie J. Berry. 

    They have five children, Alex, Carla, Calvin, Judson and Garrett; and two who are deceased, Joseph and Maggie. They have four grandchildren.

    They took a trip to Saint Augustine, Fla., to celebrate.

     The Buffalo High School Class of 1957 held their 56th reunion at the home of Rev. Gordon and Wilma McDowell on Sept. 28. From left, Nancy Allen Lee, Gordon McDowell, Barbara Jean Johnson Henigsman, Edith Bennett Price, Bonnie Elliott Lang, Minnie Mae Howell Peace, Eunice Morris Tennyson, Margaret Allen Whitlock, Donnie Sutherland and Bertha Scott Waterfill.

     The Central Kentucky Community Action Council, Inc. and Lincoln Trail Area Development District have come to a resolution on a senior transportation contract to resume transportation. This affects Breckinridge, Grayson, LaRue, Marion, Nelson and Washington Counties.

  • FOR YOUR HEALTH: Save those pumpkin seeds

     It’s that time of the year. You are sitting at the table with a large, orange pumpkin in front of you. The carving knives are ready to use, the trash can is nearby for all of the pulp. You cut the top off of the pumpkin and start throwing handfuls of tangled pulp away. You scrape all those slippery white seeds out to make room for a candle. By the end of the carving session, you are left with a spooky jack-o-lantern and a trash can full of pulp studded with white seeds.
