  • WEDDING: Angel Danielle and Adam Elisha Lewis

     Angel Danielle Humphrey and Adam Elisha Lewis were married May 31, 2013, in a private ceremony at the residence of Gordon McDowell.

    The bride is the daughter of Daniel and Lisa Humphrey.

    The groom is the son of Sid and Judy Lewis.

    Attendants were the couple’s parents, Vicky Enlow and Bryson Elisa Lewis.

    The couple lives in Hodgenville.

  • Sunrise Manor holds fundraiser car wash

    Sunrise Manor Nursing Home, 717 N. Lincoln Blvd., Hodgenville, will hold a car wash  9 a.m.-noon June 5 to raise money to send two residents on a vacation to the Ozark Mountains.

    A minimum $5 donation is requested.

    Yard sale benefits Hosparus
    A yard sale to benefit Hosparus will be 8 a.m.-4 p.m. June 8 at Jay Rust Body Shop in New Haven

    Breakfast at Upton Masonic Lodge # 749

  • Civil war veterans receive new gravemarkers

    Seven Civil War veterans, whose gravestones had deteriorated, received new federal markers at Magnolia Cemetery, just in time for Memorial Day.

    The Magnolia Cemetery Committee and Magnolia Lions Club worked together to identify the gravesites, order the markers and decorate with American flags.

    There are now 114 identifiable veterans in the large cemetery outside Magnolia Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

  • ENGAGEMENT: Saltsman - Fields

    Julie Hayden of Bardstown, and Christopher Fields and Michelle Wright of Taylorsville, announce the engagement of their parents, Carolyn Saltsman and Larry Fields, both of Hodgenville.

    They will be married June 22, 2013, at an outdoor ceremony at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Kenny Kerfoot in Hodgenville.

    The bride to be is a semi-retired registered nurse with Intrepid Home Health and a tour director with Shockey Tours in Louisville.

  • ENGAGEMENT: Thompson - Lew

    Johnie and Maureen Thompson of New Haven announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Marrisa to Stephen Lew, son of Joe and Jennie Lew of Upton.

    The bride to be is a 2005 graduate of Nelson County High School, and is employed by Bardstown City Schools as an instructional assistant. She is the granddaughter of John and Alene Thompson of Hodgenville, and the late Leo and Margie Ball of New Haven.

    The wedding will take place at 6 p.m. June 8, 2013, at Bardstown Church of God, 3909 Louisville Road, Bardstown.

  • ENGAGEMENT: Mayfield - Stevenson

    Greg Mayfield of Hodgenville and Melanie and Ronnie Read of Magnolia announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Hannah Renee Mayfield of Bowling Green, to John Matthew Stevenson of Bowling Green, son of Michelle and Leo Stevenson of Bee Spring.

    The bride to be is a 2011 graduate of Western Kentucky University with a bachelor’s of science degree in nursing. She is employed at the Medical Center in Bowling Green and has been accepted into the nurse practitioner program at Western Kentucky University.
