    Two headstones discovered in the cemetery belong to Josh and Susan Bayne, ancestors of one of Wesley Meadows’ oldest members, Helen Bayne Clark, 100, who was unaware that any of her relatives were buried in the cemetery.

    Yard Sale: Santa’s Helpers
    Santa’s Helpers will hold a yard sale 8 a.m. Oct. 12 at the LaRue County Fairgrounds. Proceeds will be used to purchase new toys for children at Christmas.

  • Outreach program turns ‘Boys to Men’

    “Boys to Men” – an outreach program that seeks to place positive role models in the lives of young boys – will be introduced to the community Oct. 12.

    Rev. Aaron L. Moss, pastor and program director at Lane Lincoln CME Church, said the program “began as a vision from God.”

    “I met with the men at Lane Lincoln CME Church and they just embraced the idea.”

    Legislative meet and greet
    The LaRue County Public Library will host a legislative meet and greet 1-2 p.m. Oct. 3. Light refreshments will be served.

    Lincoln Days quilt show
    Lincoln Days quilt entries will be taken at Hodgenville Christian Church on Oct. 4. Volunteers are needed to sit with the quilt display on Oct. 5-6. For more information, call Beverly Heath at 358-4820.

  • Board of Health prepares for change

    The LaRue County Board of Health convened Sept. 10 to discuss the budget that was approved July 23.

    Judge/executive Tommy Turner presented the financial statement for 2013-14.

    The budget allotted $196,175 in total revenue with $182,690 in estimated expenses, leaving $13,485 to be set aside for future endeavors. In addition, $12,000 carried over from the previous fiscal year budget into the new year’s budget.

    The BOH has two reserve accounts in CD funds totaling more than $60,000.

    Senior Center bake sale
    The LaRue County Senior Center, 112 N. Walters Ave., Hodgenville, will have a bake sale 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Oct. 4 at the center; and will sell food (bean soup, cornbread, chili, hotdogs, desserts and drinks) Oct. 5 during Lincoln Days.

    Chili supper at Walnut Hill
