    Lila Williams returned home last Monday after being in rehab at Sunrise Manor Nursing Home. Edith Reed, a relative of Mary E. Smith of Hodgenville, was admitted to the nursing home in Horse Cave. Kaye Curle and Yvette Best had surgery at Hardin Memorial Hospital last week.

    The Kentucky Association Pastors’ Conference at First Baptist Elizabethtown will be Feb. 17-20.

    Feb. 22 is Black History Sunday.

    The South District Mass Choir at First Baptist Church, Danville, will rehearse at 10 a.m. Feb. 21.

  • Relay for Life moving to Lincoln Square

    LaRue County’s Relay for Life Committee is changing things up a bit this year with the May 30 event not only moving locations, but changing the time and entertainment focus.

  • Williams Star Tributes appear at Park and Rec

    Classic artists live again, as Williams Star Tributes performs 7-9 p.m. Feb. 21 at the LaRue County Park and Recreation building.

    Joseph Williams, Allen Williams and The Perkins Brothers (Elvis and Meatloaf) will perform as Johnny Cash, Hank Williams Jr. and Sr., Elvis and possibly Waylon Jennings.

    Williams has performed three other times in Hodgenville, in addition to winning the Lincoln Days Karaoke Contest and competing at the LaRue County Fair.

    Williams said the songs will be familiar to anyone who knows the artists.

  • Adventure Weekends offered

    The Kentucky Cancer Program is offering its annual Adventure Weekends to women cancer survivors (all cancers) in the state.

    The sessions are May 15-17 at Barren River Lake State Resort Park & Carter Caves State Resort Park; and Aug. 28-30 at Carter Caves.

    Cost is $50 for room and board and all activities. Financial scholarships are available.

    The activities are designed for women who are no longer in treatment and are able to participate in light to moderate physical activities.

    Participants must provide own transportation.

  • Legal Aid Society clinics

    The Legal Aid Society, 416 W. Muhammad Ali Blvd., Louisville, will hold free legal clinics. Each session will be held at that location unless otherwise stated.

    A reservation for each clinic is required. Contact the Legal Aid Society at 502-584-1254 to make your reservation.

    Divorce Clinic – 9:30 a.m. Feb. 13 and March 12. Clients will receive assistance from attorneys in filling out all of the necessary paperwork to file for a divorce.

  • DeSpains celebrate 50 years

    Odell and JoAnn DeSpain will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Feb. 13, 2015.

    Their children are Debbie Johnson, Tony Embry, Billy Joe Embry, Susan Embry, Linda Skaggs, Katy Jo Dulak, Lisa Gayle Ashley DeSpain and Christina Gayle DeSpain.

    Congratulations to Brilee Brooks and Evan Wafford, the winners of the Little Miss and Mister LaRue County Sweetheart Contest.

    They will receive a prize packet and ride in the Lincoln Days’ Parade in October.

    Contestants may pick up their photos after Feb. 11.
