Lily Christine Tackett and her mom, Britney Tackett, picked up her gift basket from The LaRue County Herald News. Lily was selected as Little Miss LaRue County Sweetheart by the Herald’s readers and will represent the newspaper in the Lincoln Days Parade. Proceeds from the Little Miss and Mister Contest benefit the Newspaper-In-Education program which provides newspapers to LaRue County classrooms.
For the second year, the LaRue County Relay for Life County Committee is sponsoring a dinner to honor those in the community who count themselves as cancer survivors.
About 100 invitations were mailed this past week to known survivors, but the actual number of survivors is unknown in the county, according to Survivor Chair Kathy Ross.
PARKER. Navy Seaman Randi D. Parker, daughter of Janet W. Parker-Brown and Matthew S. Brown, both of Elizabethtown, recently completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command in Great Lakes, Ill.
Parker is a 2006 graduate of Green Run High School in Virginia Beach, Va.
She is the granddaughter of James E. Wood Sr. of Hodgenville and the late Jane Wood.
