    Book signing at library

    Bardstown Craft Beer Festival
    The Bardstown Craft Beer Festival will be 4-8 p.m. Oct. 12 at the Nelson County Farmer’s Market Pavilion on the corner of N. 2nd Street and East Flaget Avenue. Tickets are available at www.bardstowncraftbeerfest.com.

  • Library hosts meet and greet

    The Friends of the LaRue County Public Library hosted a political meet and greet Oct. 3.

    Several local officials and candidates attended the event at the library.

    Lynn Claycomb, president of the FLCPL, said she appreciated Representatives Michael Meredith and Terry Mills for participating in the meet and greet.

    Sarah Graff, assistant director of the library, said the event provided an opportunity for members of the community to meet their legislators and promoted the library as a place for community involvement.

  • Dinky Gowen to perform at State Theater

     Dinky Gowen, a LaRue County illusionist, will perform at The Historic State Theater 7 p.m. Oct. 12.

    The Halloween-themed show will feature some of Houdini’s tricks (upside-down straightjacket escape and milk can water escape), performed live on stage.

    The “ghost” of Houdini will make an appearance.

    Tickets are available at the door or in advance at www.historicstatetheater.org. Tickets are $8 for adults. Children 10 and under, $5.

  • WEDDING:Parrett - Floyd

    Karon Elizabeth Parrett and Albert Lee Floyd, both of Hodgenville, announce their marriage.

    The bride is the daughter of Mary and Phillip Gardner of Elizabethtown.

    The groom is the son of Lindsey Floyd of Hodgenville, and Sue Ellen Tindell of Columbus, Ind.

    The wedding was Oct. 2, 2013, in Elizabethtown.
     

  • BIRTH: Stillwell

    Aaron and Marla Stillwell of Hodgenville announce the birth of a son, Clayton Lee Stillwell.

    Clayton Lee was born at 12:09 p.m. Aug. 15, 2013, at Hardin Memorial Hospital. He weighed 7 pounds 15 ounces and was 18.5 inches long.

    Grandparents are Reed and Angie Smith of Magnolia; and Roger Stillwell of Upton. Great-grandmother is Ramona Smith-Troutman.

    Prime Time Band to perform
    A dance will be held 7-10 p.m. Friday, Oct. 11 at the LaRue County Senior Citizens Center, 112 N. Walters Ave., Hodgenville.     Kentucky Public Retirees to meet
    Kentucky Public Retirees, Lincoln Trail Chapter, will meet at noon Oct. 14 at Watermill Restaurant, 803 Mammoth Cave Road, Cave City.

  • Shipp ordained as minister

    Julian L. Shipp was ordained as a minister of the Gospel Sept. 17 at Evangel World Prayer Center during the annual Church Growth International of the Americas Conference.

    CGIA is the vision of Pastor David Yonggi Cho of the Yodio Full Gospel Central Church of South Korea, the largest church in the world.

    Shipp is a member of Word Productions, the media team at Evangel World Prayer Center, and serves as co-captain of Champions of Honor, a men’s ministry program.

  • State Theater

    “Lee Daniels’ The Butler” is coming to the Historic State Theater in Elizabethtown for a three-day run in late November.

    The movie will have five showtimes over the three days, debuting at 7 p.m. Thanksgiving Day.

  • Members share history of Wesley Meadows; Final of two-part story

    Two headstones discovered in the cemetery belong to Josh and Susan Bayne, ancestors of one of Wesley Meadows’ oldest members, Helen Bayne Clark, 100, who was unaware that any of her relatives were buried in the cemetery.
