  • Hornbacks celebrate 50 years

    Fred and Jean Hornback of Hodgenville will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary at Our Lady of Mercy Church Life Center on Jan. 2, 2011.

    They were married Dec. 31, 1960 at St. Francis Catholic Church in Marion County by Rev. John T. Spalding.

    They have five children, Joe Hornback, Dean Hornback, Michael Hornback, Joan Kessinger and MaryBeth Boley; 10 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

    All family and friends are invited to attend the open house.

    The couple requests no gifts.

  • Harris and Rosenbarger wed

    Samantha Shelby Harris and Dorma Nathaniel Rosenbarger were married Dec. 4, 2010, in Atoka, Tenn.

    The bride is the daughter of Tracy Fitzgerald and Larry Harris of Louisville. She is employed at Flanagan's Ale House.

    The groom is the son of Rhonda and Frank Vaughn of Louisville. He is employed at O'Shea's Irish Pub.

    The couple will live in Louisville.

  • Diana Leathers joins staff of health department

    LaRue County Health Department has recently welcomed a new community health and education director to their staff.

    Diana Leathers began her duties on Nov. 29 when the position became open due to a job transfer.

    Leathers graduated from the University of Kentucky in May with a Bachelors degree in Health Science. She resides in Bardstown with her husband, Robbie and three sons, Ryan, Greg and Scott.

  • Partridge and Clemons to wed in 2011

    Alyssa Mynne Partridge and Dustin Alan Clemons announce their engagement and forthcoming marriage.

    The bride to be is the daughter of Melissa P. Adams. She is a 2009 graduate of In The Beginning Homeschool and is a full-time teller at First Citizens Bank in Elizabethtown.

    The groom to be is the son of Scott and Kimberlee Clemons. He is a 2007 graduate of LaRue County High School and is an assistant manager at Save-A-Lot in Hodgenville.

    The wedding will be 4:30 p.m. Oct. 8, 2011, at South Fork Baptist Church. A private reception will follow.

  • Ruth nominated as midshipman

    Midshipman First Class Timothy J. Ruth, United State Naval Academy, Annapolis, Md., has been nominated as 5th Battalion Midshipman for the fall semester.
    His nomination by his superior officer states: “Ruth has been a vital member of the 24th Company. He has been excelling as the company’s Midshipmen Action Group representative throughout the entire semester.”
    Ruth and 24th Company contributed more than 500 hours of community service last semester. They were involved in the Brigade-wide Harvest for the Hungry.”

  • Perkins Brothers plan Elvis tribute concert

    Elvis and Meatloaf.com with the Perkins Brothers will perform 7 p.m. Jan. 8 at the Pritchard Community Center, 404 S. Mulberry St., Elizabethtown.
    The Brothers, who hail from Ball Hollow, will present a tribute to Elvis in honor of his birthday.
    The box office opens at 5 p.m.; doors open at 6:30 p.m.

  • Reception planned for Anita Cruse

    The LaRue County School Board will host a reception 6-7 p.m. Dec. 20 to honor retiring school board member Anita Cruse. Cruse served 1994-2010.
    The reception will be held before the regular board meeting at the Abraham Lincoln Elementary School library media center.
    All friends and community members are invited to attend.

  • Hornback and Davenport to marry

    Jeff and Barbara Hornback announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter Chelsea Jade Hornback to Scott Hanson Davenport.

    The prospective bride is a 2009 graduate of LaRue County High School and attends Bowling Green Technical College where she will graduate this spring with an associate’s degree in medical office technology. She is employed by Elizabethtown Tractor Supply but will be transferring to the Georgetown store.

    Jay Bill and Barbara Benningfield of Magnolia are happy to announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their son Jeffery Lee Benningfield to Samantha Carolyn Lands, the daughter of David and Melynda Lands of Lebanon Junction.
