  • BIRTH: Hensleys welcome Raeven Phillipmichael

       Raeven Phillipmicheal Hensley was born 8:24 p.m., June 1, 2012 at Flaget Memorial Hospital in Bardstown.    

       He was 6 pounds, 14 oz. and 20 inches long. 

    Parents are James and Mary Hensley. Siblings are Chris, Jimmy, Patrick, Josh and Ryan.

    Grandparents are Rayburn Hensley, Sue Hensley, Joanne Hensley and Theodore and Bridget Wilson. 

  • Hosparus Thrift Shoppe plans open house and sale

     Hosparus Thrift Shoppe will celebrate its 20th anniversary on July 20 with an open house and sale.

  • Jaggers family has reunion

     The E.C. Jaggers’ family reunion was June 3, 2012.

    There were 69 in attendance.

    Members of the Virgie and Bob Hazle family were Norma and Susan Skaggs, Ruth Hazle Laha, Suzanne and Matt Laha, Paul Bruner, Fred and Hope Blakeman, Cindy Kershner, Robert E.      If you are looking for something new to do in August that would also help the community, the LaRue County Chamber of Commerce is looking for Kentucky State Fair volunteers.

     We live in a fast-paced society. And in the age of the “soccer mom,” it can be all too easy to make a habit of grabbing food to go.
    Remember that your children are watching the everyday choices you make. If mom or dad frequents the drive-thru, then it must be okay for the children, too.
       Americans live hurried lives in an overweight and unhealthy society that is financially strained. Save your family money and calories and lead with a healthy and financially disciplined example.

    Hardin & LaRue Diabetes Coalition
    The Hardin & LaRue Diabetes Coalition will meet 6 p.m. July 10 at the LaRue County Extension Office, Old E’town Road, Hodgenville. It is open to anyone with interest in early diagnosis, reduction of complications, prevention and elimination of diabetes.     Kicking Cancer Kickball Tournament
    The “Kicking Cancer” kickball tournament will be June 30 at LaRue County Park and Recreation. Entry fee is $50 per team of 10 players. Youth division is 6th-12th grade; adult coed division is age 18 and must have minimum of three female players per team. Trophies awarded to two top teams.
