  • Anniversary: Druen's Celebrate 50th anniversary

    Eddie Ray and Janet (Brooks) Druen were married at Knopp Avenue Baptist Church in Louisville, KY on June 18, 1966.

    The couple has two children, Lynda (Garvis) Campbell of Hodgenville, and Todd (Nichole) Druen of Mt. Juliet, TN.

    They are the grandparents to Tayler (Anthony), Austin, Chelsea, Caitlin, Pierce, Brandon, Lauren, and Chad. They have two great grandchildren, Moxie and Minx.

    A celebration will be held from 2-5 p.m. Saturday, June 18, at Immanuel Baptist Church in Elizabethtown, KY. Family and friends are welcome.

    Chuck roast

    1 can cream of mushroom soup

    1 can Coke

    1 envelope onion soup mix

    Put all ingredients in crock-pot. Cook 6 hours or until done and tender

  • Doctor of Pharmacy - May 18,2016

    Allie Lynn Perkins of Hodgenville, KY, daughter of Cale and Tracy Tharp, recently received a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy. The University of Kentucky awarded 126 Doctor of Pharmacy degrees to students on May 6 at the UK Singletary Center for the Arts. UK College of Pharmacy Interim Dean Kelly M. Smith presided over the ceremony.

  • Coast Guard Academy - May 18, 2016

    The United States Coast Guard Academy announced that Brigid Faye Walters of Hodgenville has been recognized for superior academic achievement and leadership potential. Walters, who attends Gatton Academy, has accepted an appointment to attend the Coast Guard academy and will be sworn-in as a member of the Class of 2020 on June 27, 2016.

    On Tuesday afternoon, May 17, a strong cold front swept through the area which brought severe weather to LaRue County. High winds and golf ball sized hail were reported.

    I sure will be glad when the weather makes up its mind to be warm, sunny and nice temperatures. I hope all of these cold spells and storms move on out of here for good. Happy 58th Birthday to me on May 19.

    Lorraine McDougal is now a resident at Sunrise Manor Nursing Home. Last Saturday was the 80th birthday of Lovester Wilkinson, mother of Pastor Reverend Jerry Wilkinson. There was a birthday gathering for her given by family and friends.

    Hawaiian Dump Cake

    1 (21 oz) can cherry pie filling

    1 (20 oz) can crushed pineapple, undrained

    1 box yellow cake mix

    2 sticks melted margarine

    1 cup shredded coconut

    1 cup chopped pecans

    In 9 x 13 pan, layer the following ingredients, spreading over each layer: cherry pie filling, crushed pineapple, dry cake mix, margarine, coconut then pecans. Bake for 1 hour at 350 degrees.

    The Lincoln Trail Area Development District Board of Directors will meet at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 18 at the Lincoln Trail ADD office in Elizabethtown.

    Cruise-in Car show

    Goodtime Cruisers Cruise-in on the Square car show will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. May 21. Hodgenville Christian Church CWF will serve food in the church annex beginning at 4 pm during the Goodtime Cruisers car show. BBQ and sit down dining will be available. All proceeds benefit the church building fund.
