     Sunrise observes National Day of Prayer

    Sunrise Manor Nursing Home will host an observance of the National Day of Prayer at 1:30 p.m. May 1. 

     

    Women’s health seminar at HMH

    Hardin Memorial Hospital, 913 North Dixie Ave., Elizabethtown, will host a women’s health seminar 5:30-7 p.m. May 1. A Light dinner will be served. There is no charge for this event, however registration is required at HMH.net or by calling 270-706-1247.

    All meals served with 8 ounces skim milk.

    May 1 –Stewed chicken and vegetables, buttered noodles, green beans, banana, whole wheat roll

    May 2 – Salmon patty, baby lima beans, salad, cole slaw, brownie, cornbread

    May 5 – Meatloaf, roasted potatoes and carrots, fruit cup, whole wheat bread

    May 6 –Layered salad with turkey and peas, crackers, chocolate pudding and raisins

    May 7 –Hot beef sandwich with gravy, mashed potatoes, steamed broccoli, strawberry dessert, whole wheat bread slice

  • Central Kentucky Art Guild plans workshop

     The Central Kentucky Art Guild will hold an oil and acrylic painting workshop 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. May 24 at the Central Kentucky Art Guild Studio, 790 No. Dixie, Suite 900, Elizabethtown. Theresa Shelton, CKAG member and award-winning professional oil painter, will use a paint-along-with-me technique to enable all attendees, no matter their level of expertise, to achieve a lovely still life painting.

  • BIRTH: Caffees welcome Dakota Reese

    Caleb and Deneen Caffee of Hodgenville announce the birth of a daughter, Dakota Reese Caffee, at 6:12 a.m. March 1, 2014, at Hardin Memorial Hospital. Dakota Reese weighed 7 pounds 15 ounces and was 20.5 inches long.

    Maternal grandparents are David Burd and Sue Hines. Paternal grandparents are Steve and Jeanne Caffee, and Angie and James Combs.

    Great-grandparents are Durred and Linda Gardner; Jonell Caffee; and Ronnie and Margaret Gowen.

    Great-great-grandmother is Katherine Jones.

  • ENGAGEMENT: Joni Renee Rust and James Burke Phelps III

     Joni Renee Rust of Bardstown and James Burke Phelps III of Hodgenville announce their engagement and forthcoming marriage.

    The bride-to-be is the daughter of Pam Rust of New Haven and the late Gary Rust. She is a speech language pathologist for LaRue County Schools.

    The prospective groom is the son of Jim and Susan Phelps of Hodgenville. He teaches sixth grade at LaRue County Middle School.

    The wedding is at 7 p.m. May 31, 2014, at St. Catherine Church in New Haven.

    RELAY FOR LIFE: Barbecue chicken and auction
    First Baptist Hodgenville will host a barbecue chicken dinner and live auction beginning at 5 p.m. April 26. All proceeds benefit Relay for Life and the American Cancer Society.

    Breakfast fundraiser for lodge
    B.R. Young Masonic Lodge #132 will hold a breakfast fundraiser 8-10 a.m. May 3 at the lodge on Lincoln Square. Cost is $5, all-you-can-eat. Proceeds benefit the building fund. For more information, call 270-234-4223.
