  • Magnolia Bank announces new board members

    Eric Garrett, Chairman of Magnolia Bank is pleased to announce the election of Deena London and Ken Adams to the board of directors effective immediately.

    Deena joined the bank in 1993 and currently serves as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. Ken joined the bank in 2006 and currently serves as Senior Vice President and Senior Agribusiness Lender.

    Chairman Garrett commented “Magnolia Bank is fortunate to have two quality individuals in Deena and Ken on our management team. We think they can also bring value to our board.”

    Thought for the week: Nothing is permanent. Don’t stress yourself too much because no matter how bad the situation is....it will change.

    Snow or rain, it just can’t make up its mind. Hopefully, when the first day of spring gets here it will be more sunshine and warmer temperatures. One can only hope.

    March Madness is in the air. I have never filled out a bracket before, but I did this year just for me to see how it goes. Good luck everyone and may the best team win.

    LaRue County Schools invite parents and or guardians of any 6-12th grade student to attend a workshop on the dangers of sexting. The event will be held from 6 to7 p.m. Thursday, March 9 at the LaRue County High School Auditorium. For more information contact the Youth Service Center at 270-358-9745.

  • Cooking corner - March 8, 2017


    Slow cooked pork and sauerkraut

    3 pounds boneless pork loin roast

    2 jars (32oz each) sauerkraut, rinsed and drained

    2 1/2 cups water

    1 package (1 oz) dry onion soup mix

    3 tablespoons brown mustard.

    Combine all ingredients in Crock pot slow cooker. Cover and cook on low 8 hours.

    Congratulations to the LaRue County Boy’s High School Basketball Team for their opening win in the 5th Regional Tournament last Thursday. We wish the Hawks well as they played Monday against the Taylor County Cardinals.

    Lila Williams passed away last Friday morning at her residence. The visitation will be this Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at William R. Rust Funeral Home Chapel and Friday morning starting at 9 a.m. until the funeral at 11 a.m. with the Reverend Michael Ash officiating. Burial will be at the Elizabethtown City Cemetery.
