The cost of food in America remains affordable. According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Economic Research Service, American consumers spend, on average, just over 10 percent of their disposable income for food. That means the average household will have earned enough disposable income – that portion of income available for spending or saving – to pay for its annual food supply in about seven weeks, said Kentucky Farm Bureau president Mark Haney.

The Sunrise Manor Nursing Home resident enjoyed chocolate birthday cake, stakeholders singing “Happy Birthday” and a visit from Sonny, the nursing home’s dog.
She had her hair styled in the nursing home’s beauty shop while Sonny did “high fives” and “the shake” for treats. Afterwards, when she returned to her room, Sonny hopped in her bed and put his head in her lap.

“We met at Jericho Methodist Church during a revival,” recalled Marjorie, 86. “That night, when we first looked at each other, he smiled at me; the next night he sat by me; and, two weeks later, he showed up at my house.”
