    Senior Dance

    A dance will be held from 7 to 10 p.m. on September 11, at LaRue County Senior Center, corner of Walters Avenue and Water Street in Hodgenville. Music featuring Prime Time Band. Admission will be $4 each. For more information contact Jim Walters 270-737-5655.

    I hope everyone had a safe and enjoyable holiday weekend. The Durham High School reunion was last weekend in Campbellsville.

    First Baptist- Bible Study will be Wednesday, September 9 at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Septmber 10 at 6 p.m. will be choir rehearsal. Friend’s Day is Sunday, September 21. Rev. Wilkinson and First Baptist will fellowship with Eunice Church of God in Columbia. for Friend’s Day. Sunday, September 28 will be “Old Fashion Day.” Everyone is asked to dress in old attire as in the earlier years.

    Out and About in Hodgenville: Woo hoo! I remembered the early deadline, so proud! I have really enjoyed the articles about the small businesses that are in Hodgenville. Congratulations to Tommie and Frankie Bell and Ray and Yvonne on their 60th wedding anniversary.

    Hardin Memorial Hospital’s WOW Wellness on Wheels is Monday, September 21 at Hometown IGA in Hodgenville from 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The event will provide preventative wellness screenings: blood pressure, body fat analysis, body mass index & blood glucose-no charge. Anemia screening-$5.00; Cholesterol panel which includes total cholesterol, triglyceride, HDL, LDL and glucose for $20.00. No appointment necessary. For more information call 270- 234-4406.

    County Quilt Club

    The County Quilt Club will meet monthly at the Extension Office at 807 Old Elizabethtown Road in Hodgenville on the 2nd Wednesdays of each month from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Bring a project to work on or any recent quilt work to show and share. During the next meeting on September 9, Myra Vance will be demonstrating a twisting pinwheel design. The free event is open to everyone.

    Apple Crisp

    6 medium apples, cored,

    peeled and thinly sliced

    2 tablespoons all-purpose flour

    1 tablespoon sugar

    1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

    1/4 cup all-purpose flour

    1/2 cup quick-cooking rolled oats

    3 tablespoons light brown sugar

    2 tablespoons reduced-fat margarine 

    Preheat oven to 400 degree F. Coat a 9-inch microwave-safe pie plate with cooking spray.

    A Breakfast will be held at the B.R. Young Masonic Lodge #132 on the square in Hodgenville from 8 to 10 a.m., September 5.  Cost is $5 for the breakfast and all proceeds goes toward the building fund.
