  • Christian Women meet

     The Elizabethtown Area Christian Women’s Connection’s bi-monthly luncheon was March 11.

    About 50 women from Elizabethtown, Radcliff, Hodgenville, Vine Grove, Cecilia and Leitchfield attended. 

  • PHOTO: Ancestral Trails History

     Ancestral Trails Historical Society met in March at the Hardin County Public Library. Above, Steve Rafferty, president of ATHS, gave a Power Point presentation about the Society. Organized in 1975, the group has more than 425 members in 34 states and four foreign countries. It has published more than 60 books and has a volunteer-staffed library in the Hardin County History Museum. Elvin Smith Jr. will present the April 5 program, “The Battle of Vinegar Hill.”

  • Sunrise Volunteers executive board meets

     The executive board of Sunrise Manor Volunteers met Feb. 5.

    The meeting was called to order by President Rita Smith. Also present were Ruth Ann Brown, LaDean Self, Peggy Edwards, Tickle Ragland, Sally Rineker and Emogene Gardner.

    Minutes were approved and treasury report was given by Edwards. Brown reported four funerals with 53 volunteers in attendance.

    The semi-annual meeting will be 6:30 p.m. April 23. The meal will be provided by Sunrise Manor.

     Hodgenville Rotarian David Harrison welcomed Brandon Booth, regional transport planner for Lincoln Trail Area Development District to Thursday’s meeting. The Rotary Club meets weekly at Paula’s Hot Biscuit.

  • Christian Women meet

     The Elizabethtown Area Christian Women’s Connection’s bi-monthly luncheon was Jan. 14.

    About 50 women from Elizabethtown, Radcliff, Hodgenville, Vine Grove, Cecilia, and Leitchfield attended. The guest speaker was Janet Spencer, a Stonecroft Ministries speaker from the Lexington area.

    The title of her talk was “Am I my Brother’s Keeper?” She told of her brother’s mental illness and how God had given her strength and encouragement to be a caregiver to him.

  • Sunrise Manor Executive Committee meets

     Sunrise Manor Executive Board members met Nov. 13.

    Rita Smith, Kathy Cooper, Ruth Ann Brown, Emogene Gardner, Ann Easton, Tickle Ragland and Peggy Edwards attended.

    Easton gave a report on the number of volunteers: 51 active and 29 sustaining. If anyone is interested in volunteering, contact Kathy Cooper at 358-3103.

    Brown reported three funerals with 39 volunteers attending.

    Ragland made a motion for Cooper to purchase Christmas gifts for Sunrise Manor and adult daycare residents.

    The next meeting is Feb. 5.
