  • PHOTO: Donation to Second Chance Ranch

    Opal Dail, president of the Hodgenville Woman’s Club, presented a check to Harold Beismer of Second Chance Youth Ranch. The funds will be used to purchase youth helmets.

    Larry Howell, magistrate of District 4, was the guest speaker at a recent Rotary Club meeting. He was the guest of Rotarian Paula Varney.

  • PHOTO: Rotary Speech Contest winner

    Brian Anderson won the Central Regional Rotary Speech Contest on April 15. He will compete for the Western District Championship on May 16 in Paducah. Anderson is pictured with his mother Kim Anderson and the Bowling Green Rotary Past-President Cheryl Kirby-Stokes.

  • South Fork Homemakers

    South Fork Homemakers have had an average of 15 members attend our meetings since November.

    In November, Lois Hornback hosted our meeting at her home and provided a wonderful meal for us. We donated money to the Ovarian Cancer Fund and Pennies for Friendship.

    In December, we donated $150 to the County Homemaker Scholarship Fund and $50 to the Legacy Fund for Extension Agents to either continue education or to use for special projects. We enjoyed playing “Dirty Santa” and exchanging Christmas gifts.

  • E'town Garden Club meets

    The Garden Club of Elizabethtown met April 2. About 30 members from Elizabethtown, Radcliff, Rineyville, Glendale and Hodgenville attended. Two new members, Jack Herrmann and Jerry Snyder, were welcomed. Betty Long, M.C. Meserve and Jackie Huffines were the hostesses. 

  • PHOTO: Cub Scouts visit Frankfort

    On Feb. 26 a few members of the New Haven Cub Scout Pack 996 and Boy Scout Troop 996 visited the state Capitol to serve as pages under Sen. Jimmy Higdon, R-Lebanon. They are pictured from left, Mike Ellard, son of Bert and Billie Ellard, of New Hope; James Michael Courtney, son of James and Renee Courney, of Bardstown; the senator; Marcus Clark, son of Stacey and Danna Clark, of New Haven; and Cody Clark, son of Russ and Jessica Clark, of New Haven.

  • Youth attend 4-H Summit

    Middle school 4-H delegates from across the state recently attended the 10th annual Kentucky 4-H Summit at the Lake Cumberland Leadership Center in Jabez. The conference is held annually for those youth in grades 6-8 who want to learn more about Kentucky 4-H. The program is designed to encourage youth to continue their involvement in 4-H as they transition from middle to high school.
