A Hodgenville woman was Tasered Saturday night after allegedly running from police and persistently failing to show officers her hands.
Annabelle Rae Carlen, 29, was a passenger in a 2003 Toyota Land Rover when it was stopped about 10 p.m. on Lincoln Parkway by Hodgenville Officer Eddie Dockery.
Dockery’s report indicated Carlen threw a needle out of the Rover’s window as it was stopping. When it stopped, she allegedly got out of the vehicle and ran toward a ditch line, hiding in tall grass beside Ky. 1618.
Kentucky State Trooper Chris Berry responded to Dockery’s request for backup.
Trooper Berry located Carlen – who was lying on the ground with her hands hidden – and ordered her to show her hands. Carlen “shoved her hands aggressively” in the grass, he said, and continued to disobey orders to show her hands.
The officers said she was hiding needles in the grass.
The trooper said he used a Taser once on Carlen to gain compliance. She was handcuffed without further incident and taken to the LaRue County Detention Center.
She was charged with fleeing and evading, tampering with physical evidence, menacing and resisting arrest. Her bond was set at $9,500 cash. She will be arraigned Sept. 11 in LaRue District Court.
