LaRue County’s Relay for Life is several months away, but teams already are having fundraisers.

Lincoln National Bank’s Relay for Life Team, Lincoln’s Warriors, is hosting a “vendor blender,” a type of mini-mall, this Saturday at the LaRue County Park and Recreation Community Center.

Admission fee is $1; proceeds will be donated to the Relay for Life.

LNB employee Stephanie Jensen is orchestrating the event which features more than a dozen booths from area businesses ranging from Avon and Pampered Chef to Precious Moments Photography and Scentsy.

“It’s a great opportunity to support local vendors and the Relay for Life,” said Jensen.

Each vendor will have a booth set up in the community center offering free samples, information, prizes, raffles and special offers.

This is the first event of its kind to be put on by Lincoln’s Warriors and, according to Jensen, may become an annual event if the community turn out is well enough.

“It is for a good cause with Relay for Life and I thought it would be a good idea to help bring people from the community and Lincoln National Bank together,” Jensen said.

Relay for Life is an overnight community fundraising walk that raises money for cancer research. LaRue County’s relay will take place in May 2013. Globally, Relay for Life started in 1985 and since has raised over 4 billion dollars to help fight cancer.

The vendor blender is 3-6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 13 at the LaRue County Park and Recreation Community Center located behind the LaRue County Middle School.
