The U.S. Department of Agriculture announced Wednesday that farmers in all 120 counties in Kentucky now are eligible for emergency loans due to drought and high winds that occurred in Kentucky in 2008.
Gov. Steve Beshear sent a request Sept. 19 to U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Ed Schafer requesting that USDA disaster assistance be made available to farmers across the Commonwealth because of crop losses resulting from widespread drought conditions which began in early 2008.
