Kentucky State Police are on the scene between mile markers 99 and 100 in the northbound lane of Interstate 65 where the body of a female has been found.
Kentucky Transportation Cabinet road crews are assisting KSP in closing the outside northbound lane. The lane is expected to be closed for several hours, according to a news release.
Kentucky State Trooper Norman Chaffins said the body was found about 9:30 a.m. by a mowing company. Foul play is suspected.
The cause of death has been determined to be multiple blunt force trauma injuries to the head. The woman's age, race and nationality have not been determined.
Toxicology and other test results are pending. Det. Mike May is conducting the ongoing investigation.
The body was sent to the Medical Examiner’s Office in Louisville for examination.
