Nearly 1,000 convicts walked out of prison earlier this month as part of changes made to the state’s criminal justice system.
Changes approved by lawmakers last year allow prisoners within six months of their release date to leave under the supervision of Probation and Parole.
Televised accounts showed prisoners walking to relative freedom at halfway houses.
A few state prisoners were released from LaRue County Detention Center, according to Jailer Johnny Cottrill. However, two men declined the offer.
