A train derailed overnight in northern Hardin County near the border of Vine Grove and Radcliff. Officials say 15 coal cars are off the track and five overturned.
"No hazardous material," said Doug Finley, Hardin County Emergency Management director. "It's not near any waterways."
The overturned rail cars spilled coal onto hillsides immediately behind homes on Red Hawk Drive in a subdivision between Radcliff and Vine Grove off Hill Street.
The Paducah & Louisville train totaled 88 cars. It left the tracks at approximately 2:12 a.m.
The accident occurred about 250 yards south of the Red Hill Road interchange. R.J. Corman has crews on the scene handling the cleanup.
