Three people were injured last week in a two-car collision outside Buffalo.

According to LaRue County Deputy Doug Sherrard, Caroline Cruse, 31, of Stone House Road, Hodgenville, was driving an SUV south on Greensburg Road between Buffalo and Mount Sherman about 1:30 p.m. July 16. Her son, Bobby Dale England, 2, was in the back seat, strapped in a child seat.

Cruse said her son started crying and she turned around to check on him.

She had checked the road in front of her and didn’t see another vehicle.

When she looked back at the road, another vehicle was “right in front of her.”

The SUV struck a 2002 Toyota pickup truck, driven by Luther Mitchell of Greensburg Road, in the rear. The truck’s load of asphalt in buckets was sprayed all over the roadway and the vehicles.

Mitchell was attempting to turn into his driveway.

Both drivers and Cruse’s passenger were injured.

Mitchell and Cruse were transported by helicopter to University of Louisville Hospital. England was transported by LaRue County EMS to Hardin Memorial Hospital. Cruse and her son were treated and released.
