LaRue, Buffalo and Magnolia firefighters were dispatched June 17 to a barn fire on Stiles Ford Road. The fire broke out about 4 p.m., destroying the barn, about 50 large hay rolls and several pieces of farm equipment.

The owners, Nile and Ruth Riddle, were not home when the fire broke out.

Among the debris was an older model truck that was given to their nephew, Dawson McDowell.

“This is the barn that the boys played in … that old truck meant a lot to them,” Ruth Riddle said.

Firefighters fought to keep an adjacent barn from catching fire by dowsing it with water.  They were at the scene about three hours.

It is unknown how the fire started. No injuries were reported.
