For the last several years, Patsy Hines Thomas has presented the Mother of the Year award at the LaRue County Fair.
On Monday, she was on the other side of the podium accepting the award from Jean Thomas, vice president of the LaRue County Extension Homemakers.
“Ms. Patsy” Thomas, described as an active volunteer for the county and area Homemakers Councils, Extension council and district board and Lincoln Days, was nominated by the South Fork Homemakers Club.
Thomas, who lives in Buffalo, is a recordkeeper for the LaRue County Lady Hawks and other basketball teams, a member of Eastern Star and a retired teacher from the LaRue County School District.
“The year’s Mother of the Year hopes to be remembered for always having a smile to share with those around her and for having been a friend to all,” Jean Thomas read from the nomination.
Patsy was married to Keith Thomas for 36 years and has two children: daughter, Michelle Hutcherson; and son, Richie Thomas; two grandchildren, Jesse T. and Kaden; and two step-grandchildren, Lea Brooke and Seth.
