Three teenagers fled the scene of a wreck early Sunday morning after their friend’s car struck a tree less than a mile outside of Hodgenville.

Austin Mayfield, 16, of Hodgenville was speeding when he lost control of his 1997 Ford Taurus about 2 a.m., on a curvy part of Stiles Ford Road, according to a LaRue County Sheriff’s report. Three passengers, who left the scene after airbags deployed were later located, the report said. Two of those teens suffered minor injuries, the report said.

Mayfield told a deputy he was unfamiliar with the road.
