Cody Charles Phillip Sullivan of LaRue County High School’s FFA Chapter was named one of four national finalists in the Turf Grass Management - Entrepreneurship/Placement Proficiency award program in July. He competed to be named the national winner during the 82nd National FFA Convention, Oct. 21-24, in Indianapolis.
Proficiency awards recognize FFA members who excelled as agricultural entrepreneurs, employees or volunteers while they gained hands-on career experience. Sullivan started Country Boy Mowing, a lawn care service, in 2006. By the end of his first mowing season, he had contracted 17 yards to mow. He now takes care of 34 yards each week.
Sullivan, the son of Danny and Angela Sullivan, received a plaque and $500.
