Spring Hoot 5K
Barren River Lake State Resort Park will host the Spring Hoot 5K race on May 12. Awards will be presented for each division and overall male and female winners for the 5K run. Prizes will also be given and all participants are eligible.
The registration fee is $15 run/ $10 walk if you register by May 11 and includes a T-shirt and goodie bag. Registration fee is $20 run/ $15 walk if paying the day of the race, and T-shirts and goodie bags are only available while supplies last.

The resort is located 44 miles southeast of Bowling Green. Take I-65 to the Cumberland Parkway east, to US 31E south.

State Track and Field
KHSAA State Track and Field Championship is May 17-19 at Owsley Frazier Park at the University of Louisville.

American Red Cross golf scramble
A golf scramble to benefit the Hardin/LaRue American Red Cross begins with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. May 18 at the LaRue County Country Club. Lunch and breakfast available. For more information, call Diane Bault at 270-766-7977.

Softball district and region tournaments
The 18th District Softball Tournament will be May 21-22 at LaRue County. The Region Tournament is May 28-29 at Marion County.

Volleyball clinic
The LaRue County High School volleyball team will host a volleyball skills clinic for girls in grades K-5 10 a.m.-noon May 24 and 25 in the LCHS gymnasium.  The cost is $45 per player. Future Hawks Basketball Camp
The LaRue County High School basketball coaching staff will conduct its annual summer basketball camp May 29-June 1. Boys in grades 1-8 as of August 2012 may attend the camp which will include instruction from Head Coach Paul Childress and his coaching staff. Campers will receive fundamental instruction and participate in competitive competitions such as 1-on-1, 3-on-3, shooting, hot shot and 5-on-5. Each camper will receive a camp T-shirt, certificate of participation and awards for competition. There will be two sessions: grades 1-4 meet 9-11 a.m.; grades 5-8 meet 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Cost is $40 with a $5 discount for each additional sibling. Scholarships are available. Registration forms were handed out at local schools. Pre-registration forms can be mailed in or sign up on the first day of camp.
