Volley for the Cure
The Lady Hawks volleyball team will host the Volley for the Cure on Sept. 5. The freshman team plays at 5:30 p.m. Cancer survivors will be recognized and Mary Jane Stillwell, a breast cancer survivor, will speak immediately after the game. The jayvee and varsity teams play after the recognition.
At 5 p.m., a plate dinner with dessert will be offered for $5 with proceeds going to the ACS. Cancer survivors will be provided a free meal and admission to the game. Reserved seating and meal are available only to those who call in advance, so organizers can plan for the event. If you – or someone you know – would like to be included as a guest of honor, contact Jennifer Kirkpatrick at firstname.lastname@example.org or Pam Bowling at email@example.com.
There will also be a silent auction. Roy Skaggs, who restores old bicycles as a hobby, has been working on a breast cancer awareness bike for about a year. He has donated it to the event. The bike is a 70s-era model.
