Pool’s hours

The LaRue County Park and Recreation swimming pool will be open every day throughout July and weekends only through August. It will be open 1-5 p.m. Sundays and 12:30-5:30 p.m. Monday to Saturday. Admission is $6 for 12 and older, and $3 for under 12.

Youth soccer signups end Aug. 16

LaRue County Youth Soccer will hold signups at Abraham Lincoln Elementary School cafeteria 10 a.m.-noon Aug. 3. There will be a registration booth at the Hodgenville Elementary School Back-to-School Bash on Aug. 5. Registration forms can be returned by mail. Forms can be printed from the group’s Facebook page or e-mail LCYSA.questions@gmail.com to request forms or other information. Uniform samples will be at ALES to determine size needed. Regular registration is Aug. 1-8  (postmark by Aug. 6).  Late registration Aug. 9-16 requires a $10 late fee (postmark by Aug. 14). No registrations will be accepted after Aug. 16.

Rolling Thunder 5K fun run

Rolling Thunder Chapter Four Kentucky will host a 5K fun run/walk 9 a.m. Aug. 3 at Freeman Lake Park, Elizabethtown. Pre-register at www.3wayracing.com for $25. Race day registration is 8-8:45 a.m. for $30. Walkers encouraged.

Trooper Island Golf Scramble

The annual Kentucky State Police Post 4 Trooper Island Golf Scramble is 9 a.m. Aug. 9 at Lincoln Trail Country Club, 900 Country Club Road, in Vine Grove. All proceeds benefit Trooper Island, a free camp for underprivileged children ages 10-12 ran by KSP. Entry fee is $60 per person or $240 per team. Boys’ basketball golf scramble

The ninth annual LaRue County High School boy’s basketball golf scramble will be 9 a.m. Aug. 17 at the LaRue County Country Club. The tourney will pay out more than $1,000 in cash prizes. The $50 entry fee includes golf, cart, lunch and opportunity to win door prizes. Tourney also will include prizes for closest to pins on all par threes, long drive and longest putt. Volleyball season begins

The first game of the regular season for the Lady Hawks Volleyball team is Aug. 22 at home against Caverna.

Co-ed softball
tournament benefits Alzheimer’s research

A co-ed softball tournament to benefit Walk to End Alzheimer’s will be 9 a.m. Aug. 24 at Dawley Park, 801 Shelton Road, Radcliff. Fee is $175 per team. Includes a 50/50 raffle drawing. For more information, contact Danielle Reininger at danielle.reininger@pcitexas.net.

Walk Away from Colon Cancer and 5K Run
Walk Away from Colon Cancer and 5K Run will be 9 a.m. Aug. 24 at Iroquois Park, New Cut Road and Kenwood Dr., Louisville. Registration is $20 or $25 after Aug. 21. Register online at www.c2p2ky.org through Aug. 21.

Taking Care of Business 5K

The Taking Care of Business 5K will be 9 a.m. Sept. 14 at the LaRue County High School front parking lot. The fundraiser will help business and technology students going to Disney World in November to participate in Disney’s Youth Education Series.
