Little league girls’ basketball
Little league girls’ basketball sign-ups are 5-7 p.m. Sept. 3 at the LaRue County High School cafeteria. The league is for grades K-6th grade. The cost is $30 for kindergarten through second-grade; and $40 ($60 for two in the same family) for third- to sixth-grade.

Taking Care of Business 5K

The Taking Care of Business 5K will be 9 a.m. Sept. 14 at the LaRue County High School front parking lot. The fundraiser will help business and technology students going to Disney World in November to participate in Disney’s Youth Education Series.

Iron Horse fun run/walk
The Rolling Fork Iron Horse Festival will hold a fun run/walk Sept. 14. For more information, download a registration form at www.newhaven.ky.gov or pick up a form at New Haven City Hall.

Jack Mitchell Invitational
The LaRue County High School Cross Country Team will sponsor the Jack Mitchell Invitational on Oct. 1. Campbellsville and Fort Knox teams will compete.

LaRue County Park and Recreation Board
The LaRue County Park and Recreation Board meets 7 p.m. on the second Wednesday of each month at the Park. For more information, call Eric DeVary at 358-8386.

U of L recruiting event
The University of Louisville will host a meet and greet recruiting event at the home of Dr. and Mrs. Salem George on Aug. 29.

About 25-30 students from LaRue, Marion, Nelson and Washington counties are expected to attend the event with their parents, U of L President Dr. James Ramsey and other U of L officials at the George’s home in Lebanon.

The Georges have been hosting the recruitment event for central Kentucky students for several years.
