Wrestlers: Meet Coach Burrell
There will be a wrestling “meet and greet” for middle and high school wrestlers and parents to meet newly hired Coach Eric Burrell at 7 p.m. July 10 in the LCHS library.

The LaRue County High School Lady Hawk Volleyball team will hold tryouts in the LCHS gymnasium 9-11 a.m. and 5-7 p.m. on July 15 and 16. All players must attend both practices on both days. Any girl entering grades 8-12 may try out. Players must have a current KHSAA physical. Forms can be picked up in the LCHS main office. Golf Informational Meeting
Anyone interested in participating in the LaRue County High School golf program needs to be present at an informational meeting at 7 p.m. July 15 at LaRue County Golf Course. Any player interested in participating in varsity practice needs to have a physical completed and turned in to Coach Justin Craft by July 16. The meeting is for all interested players – varsity, junior varsity, middle and elementary school children.
Middle school football practice
Middle school football practice begins 5-7 p.m. July 16. Physical and parent permission form must be turned in at this time. All players are expected to bring cleats for practice. Parents can pick their son up at 7 p.m. at the field house. More information is available on the LaRue County Middle School football page.
Co-ed tournament fundraiser
LaRue County Softball is hosting a co-ed tournament fundraiser July 19-20 at LaRue County Park and Recreation. Must be 18 yrs and older to play; teams consist of five men, five women. LaRue County Middle and High School athletes are required to take the IMPACT (concussion) test – a 30-minute online test – July 15-18 (3-5 p.m.) at LCMS.
Golf scramble to benefit course
A golf scramble to honor the memory of Duane Ford and raise funds for the benefit of the LaRue County Golf Course will be 9 a.m. July 20. Sign up at the clubhouse by 6 p.m. Friday, July 19. Entry fee is $50.
Summersville Day Run/Walk
The Summersville Fun Days run/walk is July 20. Entry is $20 if paid by July 17; proceeds benefit Green County High School track and cross country teams. Participants receive a T-shirt and photo. Girls’ basketball camp in July
Basketball camp will be July 22-24 at LaRue County High School for girls in kindergarten to 8th grade K-8th (next school year). The K-4 group will meet 10-11:45 a.m.; the 5-8 group will meet noon to 2 p.m. Cost is $40 per camper and $60 for two in same family. Contact firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
Kicking Cancer Kickball Tournament
LaRue County Park and Recreation and Relay for Life will sponsor the “Kicking Cancer Kickball Tournament” July 27 with proceeds benefiting the Park and American Cancer Society. Youth Football Skills Camp
LaRue County Hawks Youth Football Skills Camp is 9 a.m.-noon July 29-30 for grades kindergarten through sixth. Registration is 8:30 a.m. Monday. Cost is $30 per camper; $45 for two from the same family. Each camper will receive fundamentals of football from high school coaching staff and a T-shirt. There will also be a punt, pass and kick competition. Bring cleats if possible. All campers should report to the football practice field located beside the baseball field. In the event of bad weather, campers will go indoors (tennis shoes will be worn inside).
LaRue County Youth Soccer Association is accepting registration for the fall season. You can print forms from the LCYSA Facebook page (found under LaRue County Youth Soccer Association) or e-mail email@example.com to request forms. A $5 discount for early registration ends July 31. Mailed forms must be postmarked by July 29. Regular registration is Aug. 1-8 (postmark by Aug. 6). Late registration Aug. 9-16 requires a $10 late fee (postmark by Aug. 14). No registrations will be accepted after Aug. 16.
Rolling Thunder 5K fun run
Rolling Thunder Chapter Four Kentucky will host a 5K fun run/walk 9 a.m. Aug. 3 at Freeman Lake Park, Elizabethtown. Pre-register at www.3wayracing.com for $25. Race day registration is 8-8:45 a.m. for $30. Register by July 15 to be guaranteed a T-shirt. Walkers encouraged.
Trooper Island Golf Scramble
The annual Kentucky State Police Post 4 Trooper Island Golf Scramble is 9 a.m. Aug. 9 at Lincoln Trail Country Club, 900 Country Club Road, in Vine Grove. All proceeds benefit Trooper Island, a free camp for underprivileged children ages 10-12 ran by KSP. Entry fee is $60 per person or $240 per team.
