Car show and mud run
A fundraiser car show and mud run will be held July 2 at the LaRue County Fairgrounds. The car, truck, tractor and bike show will begin at 10 a.m. The mud run follows at 7 p.m. with several classes. There is a $3 admission charge and $30 entry fee for the mud race. It is a trophy event with no payouts.
A silent auction will be held throughout the day. If you would like to donate items for the auction or make a cash donation as a sponsor, contact Sonja Skaggs at 324-3962 or 303-7848.
All proceeds will benefit Kosair Charities or a local family with financial needs due to medical problems.
LaRue County Park & Recreation pool open
The LaRue County Park & Recreation pool is open 11 a.m.-5 p.m. daily. Monthly family pass is $30. Admission is $3 per person for age 12 and older; $1.50 for under age 12. LCHS Soccer Boosters to meet
LaRue County High School Soccer Booster meetings will be on the second Monday of each month. The next meeting is 6:30 p.m. July 11 in the LCHS cafeteria. All parents and players are invited to attend.
Future Hawks Basketball Camp
The LaRue County High School basketball staff will host the Future Hawks Basketball Camp on July 11-14. The camp is open to any boy in grades 1-8 as of August. Grades 1-4 will run 9-11 a.m. Grades 5-8 will run 11:30-1:30 p.m. Cost of camp is $35 with $5 discount for each additional sibling. Camp fee will include T-shirt, competition awards and fundamental instruction from the LCHS basketball staff. Forms may be picked up at local schools. Pre-registration forms can be mailed to Josh Henderson at 101 Teri Rose Court, Hodgenville or registration will be accepted on the first day of camp. Campers registering on the first day of camp are asked to arrive 20 minutes prior to beginning of session. LaRue Chamber Golf Scramble
The LaRue County Chamber of Commerce’s 17th annual fundraiser golf scramble will begin 9 a.m. July 13 at LaRue County Country Club. Cost is $60 a player or $240 per team and includes lunch, hole prizes, door prizes, cash prizes and a jackpot. For more information, call 358-3411.
The LaRue County High School volleyball team will hold tryouts 9-11 a.m. and 5-7 p.m. Friday, July 15 in the LCHS gym. All players are required to attend both sessions. In order to try out, players must have a current KHSAA physical. Forms can be picked up in the LCHS office. LCHS Soccer Boosters Car Wash
The LCHS Soccer Boosters will hold a car wash 10 a.m.-noon July 16 in the Save-A-Lot parking lot.
LCHS Soccer Boosters fish fry
The LCHS Soccer Boosters will have a fish fry fundraiser 5-7 p.m. July 16 at Sportsman Lake. Tickets are $10 for adults; $5 for children and are available from any booster member. LCMS football players need physical
LaRue County Middle School football will begin 5:30 p.m. July 18. Practice ends at 7:30 p.m. You must have a sports physical before you can participate in practice. Players will meet in the football field house.
Lady Hawks Basketball Summer Camp
The LaRue County Lady Hawks will host a basketball camp July 25-27 in the LCHS gym. Camp for 1st-4th grade will be 10-11:30 a.m.; 5th-8th grades will meet 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Campers will be taught fundamentals by the LCHS and LCMS coaching staffs and possible guest hosts. The Lincoln Area Longbeards Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation will hold its annual Jakes Day event 1-5 p.m. Aug. 28 at 1196 Knob Schoolhouse Road, Sonora. Registration is 12:30 p.m. The event is for Jakes (ages 4-12) and Extreme Jakes (ages 13-16). There will be fishing, BB gun shoots, an archery shoot, a .22 rifle shoot and a Farm Safety & Fishing for Kids class.
