Hawks homecoming is Friday

Football homecoming is Sept. 24. The Hawks will take on the Elizabethtown Panthers. LaRue County Youth Football players will be introduced.

Rotary fundraiser

The Hodgenville Rotary Club will host a punt, pass, kick fundraiser at the home football game Sept. 24. Check with any Rotarian for more information.

Tour de LaRue

The seventh annual Tour de LaRue bike festival will begin 10 a.m. Sept. 25, rain or shine, at Hodgenville Elementary School. Information about bicycle safety awareness will be provided from schools.


Lady Hawks Soccer seniors recognized

The Lady Hawks Soccer Team’s senior night is Monday, Sept. 27. The team plays Grayson County at 5 p.m.

Band Boosters have pizza fundraiser

LaRue County Band Boosters are having spirit night at Hodgenville Papa John’s 4-8 p.m. Sept. 28 with 15 percent of sales being donated to the band program.

Soccer teams have cancer awareness night

LaRue County High School Soccer is having a breast cancer awareness game “Kickin’ for the Cure” Sept. 29 against Bethlehem. The boys play at 5:30 p.m.; the girls play at 8 p.m. The teams are selling T-shirts for $10; proceeds will benefit breast cancer research. For more information, contact Bill Hawkins at 270-268-1918.

Railsplitter Run

The Lincoln Days Railsplitter Fun Walk/Run and 5K Run will be 9:30 a.m. and 10 a.m. Oct. 2 on Main Street. Entry forms are available at www.lincolndays.org.

St. Jude Charity golf scramble

The South Dixie for St. Jude Charity Golf Scramble will begin 10 a.m. Oct. 9 at LaRue County Country Club outside Buffalo. Entry fee is $200 per team or $50 per person. Cornhole tournament, $20 per team; food, music and raffle at 5 p.m. All proceeds go to St. Jude Children’s Hospital and Crusade for Children. Second Sunday

The LaRue County Extension Service will sponsor Second Sunday, a statewide event that encourages physical activity, 2 p.m. Oct. 10 at LaRue County Environmental Education and Research Center on Leafdale Road (KY 1794). Residents are invited to join a walk on the hiking trail. Bob Sims, county economic development director, will discuss the area’s development. Bring water and insect repellent. Region Volleyball Tourney

LCHS will host the 5th Region Volleyball Tournament the week of Oct. 18.

Lady Hawks Golf Scramble

The LaRue County High School softball team will have a golf scramble 1 p.m. Oct. 30 at LaRue County Country Club. Registration begins at noon. Long drive and closest-to-the-pin prizes will be awarded. For more information or to pre-register your team, contact Coach Aaron Howell at 735-1134.
