The South Fork Homemakers met Nov. 15.

Present were 12 members – Virginia Allen, Delores Bale, Janice Bowen, Julie Devore, Ann Flanders, Emogene Gardner, Clovis Johnson, Norma Jean McDonald, Mary Lou Owen, Billie Shahayda, Della Thomas and Patsy Thomas.

The minutes were approved and treasurer’s report received.

The Club will cater the Farm Bureau dinner 7 p.m. Dec. 9. Menu is chicken strips, ham, green beans, hash brown casserole, corn, cranberry salad, rolls and drink. We will also help with the Beef Producers dinner on Dec. 13 by providing paper products, drinks and desserts.

The Club voted to donate $60 to Wreaths Across America, $200 to Homemakers Scholarship Fund and $5 per member this year to the Ovarian Cancer Fund.

Our annual Christmas party will be 11 a.m. Dec. 19 at the LaRue County Extension Office with members bringing a $15 gift for exchanging.

The lesson, “Extreme Holiday Recipe Makeover,” was given by Devore. She stressed that while enjoying our favorite holiday foods, we should consider a little healthier or just a new twist on old favorites by substituting lower fat/sugar content recipes. She distributed recipes and samples of the old favorites using new substitutions.

The next meeting is 11 a.m. Dec. 19 at the Extension Office. New members are always welcome.
