The South Fork Area Homemakers have had a busy time these past two months.
In May, Patsy Thomas demonstrated to the Club how to make a fruit centerpiece. She discussed how fruit provides lots of color, nutrients and taste and makes great gifts when cut and arranged into a beautiful bouquet or other types of arrangements. We then were rewarded by getting to eat the different fruits that she provided.
Our Club voted to donate $175 to the local 4-H Camp endeavor.
Hostesses for May were Billie Shahayda and Clovis Johnson. For the June meeting the hostesses were the Sunrise Manor Daycare employees.
We participated in the County Homemakers Meeting on May 24 by furnishing desserts. The County Homemakers were represented at the State Meeting May 14-17 in Lexington by Patsy Thomas, Jean Thomas and Theresa Howard.
Our Club met at Sunrise Manor on June 18 and provided the lunch. The residents enjoyed receiving colorful necklaces and playing bingo with Club members.
The South Fork Club will cater the Hodgenville Elementary School retired teacher appreciation luncheon on Aug. 8 at the Extension Office.
LaRue County Fair will be July 30-Aug. 4. Different clubs will be responsible for the Floral Hall.
The Club will not meet in July and August. The next meeting is 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 18 at the County Extension Office. We will learn a craft from Sue Crutcher. She will teach us how to make bracelets using black elastic and buttons. Club members are to bring an assortment of buttons of different sizes and colors and their scissors, needles and thimble.
See you again in September.
