The Lady Hawks lost, 9-8, May 5 to Elizabethtown’s Lady Panthers.
The homestanding Lady Hawks were behind 4-0 in the top of the second when they started hitting the ball.
Senior Peyton Gardner (3-for-5) had an RBI single in the second before LaRue County took a 5-4 lead in the fourth as freshman Chasity Bryant (2-for-4 with a double, a home run and two runs) scored on a wild-pitch walk in the fourth, junior Sierra Mullins had an RBI infield groundout and senior Courtney Johnson had an RBI single before scoring herself two batters later on a passed ball.
The Lady Panthers tied it again at 5 in the fifth as sophomore Brooke Chancey hit a one-out single and scored on Patterson’s two-out double to left.
The Lady Hawks were leading at the top of the ninth when the Panthers began knocking in runs, taking the lead 7-6.
A controversial play at homeplate sealed the win for the Lady Panthers.
Loss to Marion
The Lady Hawks lost Tuesday, 9-1, to Marion County’s Lady Knights.
The visitors jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the top of the first as they cruised past the Lady Hawks, who gave up nine or more runs in consecutive games for the first time this season.
LaRue County was limited to four hits.
Senior Brigitte Skaggs doubled, while Gardner, junior Trishtian Cruse and sophomore Jill Hughes each had one single.
Skaggs took the complete-game loss. She struck out four, walked two, gave up 13 hits and allowed nine runs – six earned.
