Classic film 'North by Northwest' scheduled June 20

About 20 people attended the first city-sponsored “Movie Night” Saturday.

Although the crowd was sparse, the ones who did attend seemed to enjoy the film “Stuart Little” and the free popcorn and drinks.

Andrea Ross said the movie was good and she plans to bring her family to the other free shows this summer.

Other movies scheduled are “North by Northwest” on June 20; “Tucker: The Man and His Dream” on July 18; and “We are Marshall” on Aug. 8. Each film will start at 7 p.m.

The June and July movies will be shown during the classic car cruise-in, while the August movie will kick off the LaRue County Hawks football season.

Mayor Terry Cruse said the event was an effort to promote the new Hodgenville Civic Center and offer free entertainment during these tough economic times. He had hoped for a larger turnout to the movie, but “this was just the first one,” he said.
