Skaggs named interim principal in Nelson County

Denise Skaggs, a curriculum resource consultant and a former principal in LaRue County, will take the reins this week at Nelson County High School.

Skaggs, a Campbellsville native and former eighth-grade teacher, joined the Nelson County School System last summer to focus on curriculum, after serving four years as principal of LaRue County Intermediate School and one year as assistant principal in the middle school.

She and her husband, Mike Skaggs, a rural mail carrier based in Hodgenville, have a 12-year-old daughter, Brigitte. They currently live in LaRue County.

She succeeds Sara Wilson who has been named interim director of human resources for the Nelson County School System.

Wilson and Skaggs both will serve as interim leaders with their new roles taking effect Monday..

The Nelson County School System employs nearly 700 people and is the largest employer in Nelson County.
