Harvestland Community Church, located at 4761 Lincoln Parkway Hodgenville, will host its 8th annual Single Mom Oil Change event on Saturday, April 27, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Inspired by a visit to Severns Valley Baptist Church in Elizabethtown during their event several years ago, Rich Albertson of Harvestland Community Church brought this idea back with him to our community as a way of assisting single moms with routine vehicle maintenance – allowing them to continue working to provide for their children.

Several churches from our community have become involved with the event now allowing the last two events to yield 91 oil changes each.

Volunteers of all ages from the community and other churches assist with watching over children giving moms the chance to have adult conversation, guidance and prayer time. Prescreened volunteers will hold a bible study day for the children, including a bible story, mealtime and recreational time.

Funding for the Single Mom Oil Change event comes from donations made by several local businesses and an auction that was held last month.

Volunteers working with children will be required to complete paperwork for prescreening.
