LaRue County Sheriff Bobby Shoffner was injured Wednesday morning when he wrecked his pickup truck.
Shoffner, 54, was driving a 2006 Ford F150 south on Salem Church Road toward Hodgenville when the truck left the roadway and traveled a short distance on an embankment. The Ford crossed back onto the roadway, traveled a short distance in an open field and became lodged on another embankment. The truck became dislodged and traveled backwards out of control before striking a tree in a wooded area on the left side of the road.
Co-workers said the sheriff, who lives on Brown Road, was on his way to work at the time of the crash.
Shoffner was transported to Hardin Memorial Hospital by LaRue County EMS. Co-workers said he was released to home Friday afternoon.
LaRue County Fire Department and the LaRue County Sheriff’s Department responded also.
Kentucky State Police is investigating the crash.
